Dan Stephens was hired as the Varsity Letter Club Coordinator and Athletics Gifts Officer in January of 2007. His responsibilities include fostering relationships with former Pitt varsity letter winners and members of the Panther Club.

Stephens was a decorated student and athlete while at Pitt. He was a defensive tackle for the Panthers from 2001-04. As a senior he was selected All-Big East Conference and named Pitt's Most Valuable Defensive Lineman. Stephens helped the Panthers to a share of the 2004 Big East title and earn a subsequent invite to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the program's first-ever BCS appearance where he received the Art Bodine award for his efforts. He played in four consecutive bowl games as a panther.

Stephens was a two-time Academic All-American and four-time Big East Academic honoree. He earned his bachelor's degree in urban studies and later earned his master's degree from Pitt's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA).

Stephens was a recipient of the 2005 Blue-Gold Award, annually presented to those Pitt seniors who best represent the student-athlete ideal based on academic scholarship, athletic achievement, leadership qualities and citizenship. As an honoree his name is inscribed on the prestigious Varsity Walk on Pitt's campus.

Stephens provides mentoring to children with diabetes. He was formerly employed by Daiichi-Sankyo Pharmaceuticals. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Public Administration and Non-Profit Management. A native of Wheeling, W.Va., Stephens is a 2000 graduate of the Linsly School. He is married to the former Nicole Capuano. He resides in Baldwin.
