Brent McAuliffe Position: Assistant Coach

Brent McAuliffe enters his first season as a member of Pitt's swimming and diving program.

"Brent brings with him valuable knowledge of great success at the collegiate level," said Knoles. "We are pleased to have him working with us on the staff. As an accomplished businessman, coach and athlete, Brent will be a valuable leader for our athletes."

McAuliffe comes to Pitt after coaching in the Cannon-McMillan school district for three seasons (2005-2007) where he served as head swimming and diving coach for both the high school and middle school teams. McAuliffe led the Big Macs to two consecutive section titles in 2006, their first title since 1978, and 2007. McAuliffe stressed that a player's character, integrity and sportsmanship are key points in their development as a student.

Most recently, McAuliffe served as pool manager for Bower Hill Country Club and as senior coach for Mt. Lebanon Aqua club, where his duties included teaching and applying the concepts of swimming technique to all of the individuals of the team.

McAuliffe also had stints at Tri-Power Swim Clinics and the Washington YMCA where he was a swim coach for four years. He also volunteered at Peters Township High School and swim club.

A 2005 graduate of Georgia with a bachelors in science, McAuliffe was a four-year letterwinner on the Bulldogs swim team and served as team captain his senior season. McAuliffe was a NCAA Division I Qualifier in 2004 and swam in the 2004 Olympic trails.

While at Georgia, McAuliffe studied abroad in Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Italy, France, Greece, and Croatia. For his efforts he received the Glenn Burton International Study Award. He also received the Highest Distinction Award given at the University of Georgia for Community Service in 2004.

McAuliffe started his high school career in Pittsburgh where he won an individual state championship in swimming. He then moved to Bolles Preparatory Academy where he was a member of a national record-breaking team. McAuliffe won a Florida individual and team state championship for Bolles.

McAuiffe now resides in Pittsburgh.
