Men's Swimming and Diving Claims Relay Title

PITTSBURGH--Pitt's 400 medley relay team finished first, as the men's swimming and diving team finished 16th with 56 points at the ECAC Championships held at Trees Pool over the weekend.

Pitt's 400 medley relay team of freshman Andrzej Dubiel (Dzierzoniow, Poland/School of Sport Championship), junior Adam Plutecki (Zielona Gora, Poland/Zielona Gora), sophomore Geoff Morgan (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall Central), and sophomore Derek Schmitt (Canton, Mich./Ohio University) claimed a first-place finish when they combined to stop the clock at 3:20.86.

From that relay, Morgan earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 fly at 50.50, while Schmitt placed 16th in the 200 free (1:45.23).

Several members of the squad will travel to Federal Way, Wash. on March 27-29 for the NCAA Championships. Information on those earning bids will be available at a later date.
