Sean Moran enters his third season at the University of Pittsburgh. Moran serves as Pitt's recruiting coordinator and infield coach, while also coaching first base on game day. Moran joined the Panthers in 2006 from Delaware State and quickly made an impact with Pitt's infielders. In 2006, Pitt's double play combination of shortstop Jimmy Mayer and second baseman Jim Negrych were both selected in the MLB Draft. In addition to his immediate impact on the field, the Panthers' 2006 recruiting class featured true freshman starters Danny Lopez at shortstop and Nate Reed as the team's number three starter on the mound.

While at Delaware State, Moran served as hitting coach, infield coach, and recruiting coordinator for the Hornets in 2004 and 2005. Under his guidance, Delaware State led the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in hitting both seasons and advanced to the MEAC Championship game in 2004, the school's first title game appearance in 10 years.

Prior to his two-year stint with Delaware State, Moran served Marist College in the same three capacities from 2000-2003. In 2001, he took charge of the Red Foxes' infielders and looked on as Marist led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in fielding percentage and double plays en route to earning a spot in the NCAA Regional. The following year, Moran added to his infield coaching duties when he was appointed as Marist's recruiting coordinator and helped the Red Foxes to a No. 3 seed at the Nebraska NCAA Regional. The Red Foxes won a school-record 41 games in 2002 and led the MAAC in fielding percentage and double plays.

In 2003, Moran added another responsibility when he was named as Marist's hitting coach. The Red Foxes had a school-record four players selected in the MLB draft. During his three-year tenure at Marist, four players were named All-Americans.

His coaching career began at Dominican College in 1999, where he served as hitting coach, infield coach and recruiting coordinator for two seasons. He helped Dominican to the 1999 NAIA World Series, a Northeast Region championship, and a Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CAAC) title.

Moran's coaching resume includes five NCAA Division I All-Americans and 26 players that have moved on to play professional baseball, including nine infielders. Moran was a four year starter at Mercy College from 1995-1998, where he played all four infield spots during his career.
