FRESHMAN SEASON (2006-07)
Selena Nwude played in 27 games for the Panthers as a rookie...sat out the remainder of the season with a knee injury suffered in the final regular season game at Georgetown...grabbed nine rebounds vs. West Virginia...had her best game of the season at Connecticut with 14 points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes...contributed five points and four rebounds in win at Providence...had a then-career-high points and rebounds with 10 and 10 vs. USF...the 10 points and 10 rebounds marked her first career double-double...scored five points in 10 minutes against St. John's...gave the team great minutes in the win over Marquette adding six points and three rebounds...had a then-season-high six rebounds vs. East Carolina...scored a career-high nine points and five rebounds in win over Boise State...played 14 key minutes with Marcedes Walker on the bench in foul trouble...scored on a bucket under the basket and added the free throw to give Pitt a lead at the half vs. Utah...scored seven points in win over Mount St. Mary's...played 10 minutes in her first collegiate game, a win over California (Pa.).
HIGH SCHOOL
Selena Nwude entered college ranked No. 14 overall and second among centers by Scout.com...the AllStar Girls Report ranked her as the nation's No. 4 center and No. 40 prospect overall. Nwude has a long wingspan at 6-5 and helped Eleanor Roosevelt High School to the 2005 Maryland state championship.
Nwude is a two-time all-county honoree and was named All-Metropolitan [Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.] and The Gazette All-Prince George County as a junior in 2005. In addition, she earned a nomination for DC Metropolitan Area Player of the Year in 2005-06. As a junior, Nwude averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocks per game. Nwude was invited to participate in the prestigious adidas Top 10 Camp in the summer of 2006.
