AS A FRESHMAN (2007)
Shannon McConnell was one of the team's most consistent competitors in her freshman season...scored a career-high 9.825 on the floor exercise at Oklahoma and a 9.800 on the vault at Kent State...averaged a 9.690 on the vault and a 9.728 on the floor exercise...placed in the top five four times throughout the season...was the runner-up on the floor exercise with a 9.800 against Ohio State...also appeared in the balance beam lineup early in the season.
HIGH SCHOOL
McConnell was a Level 10 national qualifier in 2006 and top-10 placewinner on the vault at Level 10 nationals in 2002...six-time Level 10 regional qualifier...Level 9 national qualifier in 2000...trained at Gym Dandy's under coaches Karen Clark and Scotty Miller...also competed for North Allegheny High School where she finished third in the all-around at the WPIAL Championships in 2006...won the WPIAL title in the all-around as well as on the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise as a junior...finished second at the state meet in the all-around in 2005...led her team to three WPIAL team titles in four years under coach Lisa Failla...named MVP of her high school team for three seasons...a scholar-athlete and member of the honor roll for four years.
