PITTSBURGH - The Pitt gymnastics team announced the signing of Mallory Brewer today. A Level 10 gymnast from Geddarts' Twistars Michigan, Brewer previously trained under current Pitt assistant coach Michael Rowe.

"She was a stand out at JO Nationals and all the sudden had an awful lot of attention from a lot of schools," said Head Coach Debbie Yohman. "We feel very fortunate that she chose Pitt. We did our vault and floor lineups a lot of good bringing her on board and our other recruit in addition to what we brought in this year. It's really going to fortify those two events for us."

At the 2006 Level 10 National Championships, Brewer placed second in the all-around, second on the floor exercise, third on the vault and third on the balance beam. She was one of four Level 10 National Team Members from Gedderts', and last summer attended the National Training Camp in Colorado with current Pitt gymnast Dani Bryan.

"When I came on my unofficial visit, I fell in love with Pitt," said Brewer. "I love this city. It's such a pretty place. It's also nice to have someone I already know here [assistant coach Mike Rowe]. It makes the transition easier."
